Jan 8, 2012 by staff

Tift Regional Medical Center has been rated in the Top 10 in spinal surgery among all hospitals in the state of Georgia for the 2nd year in a row by Georgia Trend Magazine.

“Obtaining superior outcomes in spinal surgery is a team effort and I am grateful for my team at Tift Regional,” states Dr. Edward Hellman, spinal surgeon at The Spine and Scoliosis Center, who also serves as the chief of staff at Tift Regional.

An excerpt of the Georgia Trend article from December 2011:

Top Georgia Hospitals

For the second year, Georgia Trend is publishing statewide hospital rankings, this time for 17 different categories, including cardiac care, stroke treatment and joint replacement.

The rankings are compiled by HealthGrades, Inc., a leading healthcare ratings organization, which ranks each of the country’s 5,000-plus short-term, critical-care hospitals independently, based on data from state and local governments. Ratings and the rankings process are based solely on outcomes. There is no cost to the hospitals rated, nor can a hospital opt in or out of being rated.
